Description du vin
The plots of Château Laville Bertrou are located on an exceptional terroir within the very high-quality Minervois-la-Livinière appellation. This extraordinary terroir, acquired by Gérard Bertrand in 1997, allows the production of powerful and distinctive wines, like the great wines of Languedoc. Benefiting from a semi-arid Mediterranean climate with a temperate winter variation, the vines are exposed due south on the heights of the village of La Livinière, at an altitude of around 120 m.
Château Laville Bertrou Grand Vin is a selection of the best plots of the Domaine. The soil is made up of a mosaic of stripped marl, associated with calcareous sandstone and compact limestone dating from the Eocene (Tertiary era). This type of terroir naturally limits the production of each vine. The deep rooting of the vines allows them to withstand low rainfall and water stress. The significant sunshine promotes the slow maturation of the grapes.

Vinification et élevage
The vineyard is carefully tended to in order to obtain grapes of a impeccable quality, ripe, healthy and concentrated. The planting density is high (5000 to 6500 vines per ha) for the most recent plantations. The vines are trained in high trellises to guarantee surfaces high foliar and yields are controlled (less than 45 hl/ha). grapes are harvested manually, at perfect maturity, and transported to the cellar in the cellar. The different grape varieties are vinified separately, respecting their own characteristics. Carignan and Syrah are vatted in whole bunches and vinified in maceration carbonic acid for 15 days. The end of alcoholic fermentation is carried out at low temperature. The Grenache is destemmed and its duration of maceration reaches 3 weeks. The wines are racked at the end of alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, then placed in Bordeaux barrels of 225 liters, for a maturing period of 10 to 12 months.
Note de dégustation
The dress is a beautiful garnet color, intense and brilliant. From the nose emerges an aromatic bouquet complex, where blackberry, blueberry and cherry are mixed with pleasant notes of liquorice and undergrowth. The attack on the palate is ample, fluid and suave. Present, but round and melted, the tannins support delicate aromas of red and black berries. Fruity and balanced, its finish lingers in the mouth on subtle woody notes.
