1975
First harvest
Gérard Bertrand carried out his first grape harvest at Château de Villemajou, in the heart of the Corbières region, discovering his passion for wine. He began an apprenticeship with his father, Georges Bertrand.

2002
Beginning of biodynamics
The conversion of the estates to biodynamic agriculture began in 2002
on the Domaine de Cigalus. Beyond the peasant approach, Gérard Bertrand has
the certainty that nature and all its biodiversity deserve to be cultivated with
attention and caution. From a simple experiment on 5 hectares of vines,
Gérard Bertrand noticed the benefits of biodynamics on the ecosystem and decided
therefore to convert the entire Cigalus vineyard to this cultivation method
the following year.

2015
Wine under the stars
In 2015, Editions de la Martinière published a work
autobiographical "Wine under the Stars" in which
Gérard Bertrand explains the foundations of his convictions
concerning the practice of biodynamic agriculture.

2024
100 years of biodynamics
The year 2024 celebrates the centenary of the biodynamic movement worldwide.
Today Gérard Bertrand is proud to announce that his commitment and that of
its teams result in 930 hectares of vineyards cultivated using biodynamic methods
including 830 already Demeter certified. At the group level, 2024 also marks
the complete accomplishment of the transition to biodynamics. By partnering with the
celebrating this anniversary, Gérard Bertrand underlines the importance of this
agricultural approach in preserving the land for future generations.
